Hi, Lauren. Picking San Pablo is an interesting because it's a very generic place. Although, I can see where it could be attractive because it does have a unique architecture about it and it lies in a very active part of campus. I think the problem you may have with it is when you go to write your essay about it, you may find difficulties using a lens of analysis of one of the authors we were given. Anyways, you recorded some great observations and you used great detail. My only suggestion for the writing aspect of it is to elaborate on these items you're noting and maybe talk about how they contribute to the space. In my notes, I used some pretty broad comparisons but it got me thinking about symbolism, i.e. great writing material. Because you did in fact cover every little detail, I have a suggestion for what author you could use for your "lens". Mary Austin used a lot of references to animals in her paper and I could easily see you using the items that you saw as symbols for an animal habitat, or some sort of environment. Just a thought though. Other than that, my only suggestion is to challenge your self when you write. Try a rough draft of something out of your comfort zone and if you don't like you can surely change it. Good luck!
